No South Pasadena office. Pasadena is minutes away.
I want that clear before anything else. The room is in Pasadena, and for most of South Pasadena that is a short drive rather than an outing. Everything I offer is also available on secure video anywhere in California.
People mix the two constantly. In the room when the week allows, on video when it does not, without treating either as a compromise.
A Small Town Problem
Everyone knows everyone, which cuts both ways.
South Pasadena is small enough that people run into each other at the market, and that makes some things harder to say. I hear a lot of quiet worry about being seen walking into a therapist's office, or about a family matter becoming community knowledge. Sessions here are confidential within the limits the law sets, and part of what an office one city over provides is simple distance.
The flip side is real too. Community is protective, and I am not going to pretend otherwise while treating your neighbors as a threat.
Who I Work With Here
Scope, so you are not guessing.
- Adults and teens, individually. I do not run couples work.
- LGBTQ+ affirming, and specific about it rather than decorative.
- Not appropriate for severe mental illness or psychotic disorders, and I will refer out.
- California only, in person in Pasadena or by video statewide.
What Gets Worked
Old material, current symptoms.
Trauma work here often starts with something present tense. A teenager who stopped sleeping. A parent whose temper surprised them. A person in their fifties who finally has time to notice what they have been outrunning. We follow the symptom back rather than demanding a coherent history up front.
I use EMDR, parts work, psychodynamic and somatic approaches depending on the person. What I will not do is promise a timeline or an outcome, because nobody honest can.
