Integrative and Holistic Therapy

One person, several tools.

I am trained in more than one thing and I use them in combination. Pasadena and telehealth across California.

Why Not One Model

A protocol is a map, not the territory.

Single-model therapy has an obvious appeal. It is tidy, it is easy to describe, and it gives the therapist a script. The trouble is that people do not arrive shaped like a manual. Someone can need stabilization in March, reprocessing in July and grief work neither of us saw coming in October.

Integrative does not mean improvised. Each of the approaches I use is one I am actually trained in, and at any point you can ask me what we are doing and why. I will give you a straight answer, including when the honest one is that I want to slow down.

The Threads

What Gets Combined

EMDR

A structured way of working with memories your body still treats as current events. Useful when insight has done all it can and the charge is still there.

Parts work

Working with the different parts of yourself. Instead of trying to defeat the critic or the avoider, we find out what job it thinks it has. Parts negotiate. They do not surrender.

Psychodynamic depth

Where the pattern came from, what it protected, and how it keeps getting re-created. This is the thread that stops therapy from becoming symptom management.

Somatic and trauma-informed practice

Breath, posture, startle, the thing your shoulders do when a certain name comes up. Trauma lives here, and talking about it is not the same as reaching it.

How I Hold It

The Rules I Work By

  • The method follows you. You do not get sorted into whichever protocol I happen to like this year.
  • We name what we are doing and why, so you are never being worked on without knowing the plan.
  • If something is not helping, we say so out loud and change it rather than quietly continuing.
  • Holistic here means the whole person, including sleep, body, culture and circumstance. It does not mean anything unproven.

I do not treat severe mental illness or psychotic disorders, and I will say so plainly at consult if another level of care would serve you better. More detail on the way I work is on How I Work, and fees are listed on Rates.
