ADHD Therapy for Women in South Pasadena, CA
Often the diagnosis arrives sideways, right after a child gets evaluated.
Book a free consultHow It Surfaces
Your kid gets assessed and the intake form describes you.
This is the single most common route I see in this part of town. A parent sits through an evaluation, reads the criteria, and recognizes their own eleventh grade year in every line. Then comes the odd double task of managing a child's accommodations while quietly reckoning with the fact that nobody ever offered you any.
There is usually anger in there. Not at the child, at the decades. It belongs in the room, and it tends to be the most productive material we have.
What Changes First
Usually the smallest things.
- The morning stops starting with a deficit you are already trying to pay off.
- Missed things get handled as information rather than as evidence about your character.
- You stop maintaining systems built for a brain you do not have.
- The apology reflex quiets down, which other people notice before you do.
Life Here
Small city, high expectations, relentless logistics.
South Pasadena packs a lot of coordination into a small footprint. Forms, carpools, teams, a household calendar that assumes an executive assistant nobody hired. ADHD does not care that the tasks are small. It cares that they are boring, unstructured and endless, which is the exact profile that costs the most effort for the least visible credit.
Which is why appointments have to be easy to keep. The office is a few minutes north in Pasadena, and video is there for the weeks when even that is too many moving parts.
The Work
Systems that fit you, and the voice that says you should not need them.
We build supports, and then we deal with the part that treats every support as proof of inadequacy. That second half is where therapy earns its money. Parts work gives that critical voice somewhere to go, and EMDR works on the actual scenes it keeps citing, usually a teacher, a parent, or one specific humiliating afternoon.
I do not prescribe and I do not replace a formal ADHD evaluation. I coordinate with whoever does.
