Distance, Honestly

No office in the city, and the drive is a real clinical issue.

I do not have a Los Angeles office. In-person work happens in Pasadena, and for most of this city that is a commitment rather than an errand. Video is the default, and I would rather say that clearly than let you find out after two exchanged voicemails.

There is a clinical argument here, not just a convenience one. Trauma work depends on continuity. Sessions that cost you ninety minutes of driving each way get dropped first when a week goes badly, which is exactly the week you should not be dropping them.

What Arrives in the Session

Trauma in a city that keeps you moving.

People here are busy in a way that is genuinely useful for avoidance. There is always another thing, another drive, another obligation across town, and a nervous system that never gets a quiet moment never has to notice what it is carrying. Then you get sick, or laid off, or a relationship ends, and the noise stops for a week and everything you outran arrives at once.

Los Angeles also collects transplants. A lot of people moved here specifically to get distance from a family or a place, which works geographically and does very little to the internal copy you brought with you.

  • You moved far away and the same feelings unpacked themselves in the new apartment.
  • Your calendar is full and none of it is rest.
  • You can talk about what happened without feeling much, which you assume means you are fine.
  • Something small triggered a reaction wildly out of proportion and it embarrassed you.

How I Work

Stability first, then the difficult material.

We build grounding and resourcing before we go into anything heavy, and we close every session on purpose. Structured trauma approaches such as EMDR and parts work come in once there is capacity to hold them. This is deliberately unhurried, because trauma work that outpaces your capacity produces a hard week and no lasting change.

No outcome promises and no session count. What I can promise is that I will tell you plainly if I do not think I am the right fit.
