No Los Angeles office, and video is the practical answer.
My only room is in Pasadena. Everyone else across this city meets me by secure video, which given the size of Los Angeles is less a compromise than the reason the work is possible at all. It also spares you explaining a standing crosstown absence to anyone who might ask.
A Word About the Term
This city loves the vocabulary, which is a mixed blessing.
Narcissist has become an everyday word here. Sometimes that language is the thing that finally lets someone name what happened to them. Other times it flattens a complicated situation into a villain, and then people arrive convinced they must prove a diagnosis before their pain counts.
I do not diagnose people I have never met. What I work with is the pattern and its effects: being managed, doubted, rewritten, and gradually convinced that your reactions were the actual problem. That does not require anyone else to be labeled.
- You compile evidence before you let yourself be upset.
- You feel guilty for using strong words about someone who was also, sometimes, wonderful.
- You physically brace when a name appears on your phone.
- You are geographically far from them now and it changed less than you hoped.
Recovery
Your read on reality, given back to you.
Early sessions are usually about steadying your own judgment rather than building a case. Then we work on the moments that still hijack your body, frequently with EMDR, and on the habits you exported into everything else: the preemptive apology, the mood monitoring, the instinct to shrink first and ask questions later.
If contact continues, because of co-parenting or family or work, we build for that reality instead of a clean break that is not available to you.
