That is not the same thing as abuse, and I am not diagnosing anyone from a distance. But it does explain a specific misery: the partner, parent or boss who is warm and hilarious in public and something else entirely behind a closed door, and the way nobody believes you because they have met them.
You end up with two conflicting records of reality, one of which is loudly confirmed by everyone you know. Most people arrive here having quietly decided the problem must be their own sensitivity.

Early work is usually about restoring trust in your own perception. Not arguing you into it, and not building a case against another person, but relearning that your read on a situation is information rather than a symptom. From there we work on the specific moments that still hijack you, often with EMDR, and on the flinch that shows up in every new relationship afterward.
Some people also need practical scaffolding, because leaving is often financial and logistical before it is emotional. We can talk about that too.

Fees, license, and safety.
Sessions are $225 for 50 minutes, intensives are $2,300, and I am out of network with superbills available. There is no published sliding scale. We begin with a free 10-minute call.
